What is Pyxo?

A ready-to-use platform for actors in the restaurant industry.
Pyxo is a platform that manages for its customers a pool of connected and reusable containers. They unite and bring together the entirety of the actors of reusability systems: logistics coordinators, collectors, washing centers, deposit systems, restaurants, and suppliers.
They have over 2000 participating businesses, including big brands such as McDonalds or Sodexo and they are working alongside public policy actors such as the French government and the World Economic Forum as a prescriptor to find long-term solution to plastic waste pollution.

What is their positive impact?

A plastic-induced environmental catastrophe...
By 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans.10 million tons of plastic are dumped into marine habitats each year, the same as dumping a garbage truck into the ocean every minute
The three R’s rule —Reduce, Reuse, Recycle— sets the principles of waste sustainability. Pyxo chose to address the second pillar: Reuse.
For each cycle completed by a container, its volume of single-use plastic is avoided as waste. We can therefore measure the volume of plastic avoided over time by the fleet (check out Pyxo’s dashboard).

Who’s behind the project?

After jogging in a park during his lunch break, Benjamin became aware of the scale of the disposable waste generated by the fast-food industry on a daily basis, and of the general indifference surrounding it. Developing a solution offering a sustainable alternative to disposable takeaway packaging was an obvious choice. Having met while studying at Centrale Paris, Benjamin and François (from left to right on the picture) decided to join forces to put their skills to work on environmental issues.
In 2019, Pyxo was born.
Pyxo is now first and foremost a human adventure, with more than 20 members of the team particularly committed to shared values.

Roadmap

Since June 2023 and the success of the fundraising, Pyxo has been deploying the financed containers to restaurateurs and sharing the revenue from rental.

Pyxo is currently in the process of being bought out by a new owner, another major player in the reuse market (as of April 2024). We will update this content with the vision set out by the new owners.
